California Forklift Material handling jobs

In this role, you will complete diagnostics, repair and rebuild yard truck products out in the field under limited supervision. Apply documented procedures and policies to complete complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.

Key responsibilities for this Yard Truck/Diesel Mechanic:

  • Service all yard trucks and related equipment as required
  • Trouble shoot and analyze all service related issues (including CAN bus etc.)
  • Disassemble, clean and reassemble all yard truck components, engines, and fuel systems
  • Diagnose and repair air brake systems
  • Performs preventative maintenance based on assessment of equipment
  • Completes required documentation, such as work completed work orders, time sheets, warranty claims, and documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens
  • Completes training in line with skill and business requirements
  • Maintains work area/vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation
  • Adheres to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor

Qualifications

Experience, Education, Licenses, and Certifications:

  • Cummins Certified
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution (or equivalent work experience)
  • Valid driving permit (good driving record required)
  • Intermediate to expert level knowledge of and/or experience with diesel engine products

Skills:

Skill Level A

  • Ability to carry out basic diagnostics using diagnostic tools on different product types with minimal supervision
  • Able to fully use all required service tools 
  • Capable of developing collaborative working relationships
  • Able to identify and communicate opportunities for work process improvements
  • Can resolve common technical problems

Skill Level B

  • Ability to carry out full diagnostics using diagnostic tools on different product types without supervision
  • In depth mechanical repair and maintenance capability to carry out external engine repairs including fuel system components without supervision
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive customer relationships
